Be sure to plan your luggage before you travel! Pack items you might find useful during the flight in your hand luggage. Remember that you are not allowed to pack into your carry-on bag anything that might damage the aircraft or harm other passengers or staff members. That includes anything that might be flammable, explosive, corrosive, toxic or dangerous in other ways. The list provided below is an example and might not contain all banned items and substances. Hand luggage restrictions
Liquids, gels and sprays
Tartu Airport will not scan liquids, gels or sprays in individual containers of 100ml or larger (except medication and special dietary substances). As a result, you would not be allowed to pass through security with such items.
Items permitted in carry-on bags:
- Liquids in individual containers of up to 100ml, contained in one re-sealable transparent 1 litre capacity plastic bag. Contents must fit within the bag and the bag must be sealed.
- Medication and special dietary foods, including baby food, which will be subject to inspection (from 31stJanuary 2014). You can make our security checks go smoother by packing your liquid medications and baby food separately and making sure they are easily accessible by you for our staff.
Firearms and projectile devices
You are not allowed to pack firearms, their constituent parts (except telescopic sights), toy guns, gun replicas, flare guns, starter pistols, bows, crossbows and arrows, harpoons, underwater firearms or slingshots in your hand luggage.
You are prohibited to have items which are intended for stunning and immobilization purposes in your hand luggage, this includes but is not limited to electric shock devices, stun guns, items meant for killing or tranquilising animals, immobilization and incapacitating chemicals, gases and sprays.
Sharp pointed and sharp edged items
You cannot have items that can be used to cause bodily harm, such as items meant for hacking or chopping, razors, knives and scissors with blade length of 6cm or above, swords, sabres, in your hand luggage.
You can’t carry any items and tools that can be used to cause serious injuries or to jeopardise the safety of the aircraft in your hand luggage. That list includes, but is not limited to, crowbars, drills, drill bits, nail and stud guns, tools with blades or handles of 6cm or longer, saws, torches etc.
You are prohibited from carrying items that can be used to create blunt force trauma, such as bats, clubs or martial arts equipment, in your hand luggage.
Explosives, incendiary substances and devices
You are banned from having in your hand luggage any explosive and incendiary substances and devices which are or appear capable of being used to cause serious injury or to threaten the safety of the aircraft, it’s passengers or crew. This includes ammunition, detonators, mines, grenades and other explosive military stores, pyrotechnics, smoke-generating canisters or cartridges and replicas of explosive devices.
